Important software update for Aruba: change of Small Income Allowance and AZV premium

An important software update has taken place in Celery for the country of Aruba. As of 1 July 2018, an increased Small Income Allowance (in Dutch: Reparatietoeslag) applies. This change has effect on gross salary between AWG. 1,711 and 2,500. In addition, the AZV-premium has changed per July 1, 2018. This amendment applies to premium liable persons who are eligible for an AOV-pension based on their age.

The new Wage Tax Manual 2018 for Curaçao has recently been published. This included two adjustments for which new wage codes were created in Celery. Wage code 520 (free housing) and wage code 504 (internet). Both code are intended for Curacao payroll processing.

Increase minimum wage Curacao as of January 2018

In contrast to the Wage and Income Tax tables 2018, the minimum wage in Curaçao will be increased as of 1 January 2018. The minimum wage is increased from ANG 9.00 gross per hour to ANG 9.175 gross per hour. That is an increase of 1.94%.

As of today, Celery has been expanded with a HRM module! This HRM module can be used not only by Celery clients but by every employer whose payroll administration is processed in Celery. So, even if you are not a Celery Client, but you have outsourced your payroll administration to a Payroll Services Provider (hereafter PSP), you can use the HRM module.

Software update: digital payment files for Banco di Caribe now possible in Celery

Recently we created the possibility in addition to MCB, CMB, WIB, Arubabank and Girobank, to create digital net pay payment files also for Banco di Caribe.

You can find this option in Celery in Reports/report number 3: ‘Bank transfers’, under the ‘Export’ button.

You can upload these digital payment files in Banco di Caribe online banking after which these payments will be executed upon approval.

With this addition in Celery we hope to be of service to more of our Celery customers and to save even more time in the periodic payroll process. And accidently paying incorrect amounts has become impossible with this new option!

As of January 11, the Wage tax table and social premiums 2017 for Aruba were already updated in Celery. As of February 8, also the Wage tax table 2017 for St. Maarten is included in Celery. SZV premiums 2017 of St. Maarten were already updated some time earlier in Celery.

Increase minimum wage Curacao

In contrast to the SVB premiums and Wage and Income Tax Tables that did not change in 2017, the minimum wage in Curacao has been increased by January 1, 2017. The minimum wage will be increased from ANG 8.20 gross per hour to ANG 9.00 gross per hour. That is an increase of 9.7%.

Concerning Curacao there is very little changes to mention for 2017. The Tax Authorities as well as the SVB have confirmed that in 2017 Wage Tax tables and social premiums will remain the same as in 2016.

Software Update: Importing one-time changes (such as hours worked, overtime, deductions, bonuses etc.)

From now on it is possible to import changes while processing a payroll. Due to this new possibility, it is no longer necessary to enter these one-time changes and hours manually. The time saved by this option is huge, and by importing changes based on unique employee numbers and pre-connected wage codes, importing errors is impossible. So, you save a lot of time and the risk of importing incorrect changes is impossible with this new feature!

New ‘gross up’ wage codes

For some time now it is possible to gross up in Celery. Gross up means that a net amount is entered, which Celery calculates back to a gross amount. Such wage codes are often used for example when a net bonus has to be paid.

For several months now report S24 has been added in St. Maarten payrolls in Celery. This report can be found in Celery in Reports / Periodic Reports. This S24 report concerns the blue SZV mutation form with which SZV mutations such as starters, leavers and/or salary changes have to be reported to the SZV. This S24 report has the same 13 columns as the original blue SZV mutation form.

In the context of process improvement per August 1, 2016 Celery will no longer be using Freshbooks for the monthly invoicing process.  Our invoices will be generated by Celery ourselves and the invoices will directly be retrievable and available in your Celery account.
