The first month of 2021 has already passed; how time flies. We hope that you had an excellent first month of the new financial year. Traditionally, we start the year with a review of the previous year’s highlights and look at the plans for 2021.

2020 Highlights:
Celery Tech team builds website Fonden di Sosten
2020 was an “eventful” year. Corona shook up our entire schedule in March, as Curaçao went into “lock-down” and our Celery team moved to the various home offices. It took some getting used to, but soon we found our niche. Our software is online makes a big difference, because we could immediately continue what we were doing. The support team started to focus on COVID-19-related salary questions, and our technical team was given a special mission. Namely, building the website www.fondodisosten.org in collaboration with various other parties, who were part of the Emergency Fund committee on Curaçao. Celery is responsible for designing and building the website that provided information and support for all entrepreneurs and employees in Curaçao. We are proud that, in this way, we have contributed to the well-being of the economy and society.

Celery builds its own head office
Celery doesn’t just build software. We are also building the future. Before the whole world was turned upside down by COVID-19, we had been negotiating the purchase of our own office building for several months. Due to the substantial growth that our company has gone through in recent years, our current office space became too small, and we had to look for something larger. After a long search, we fell in love with a former sushi restaurant located on the Snipweg in Willemstad, in the middle of the intersection with the Schout at night Doormanweg. In September 2020, the building became our property, and we started a thorough renovation. The construction work is expected to be completed in mid-May.

Celery launches new website
Just at the end of 2020, we also launched a new website for our own company. The old website needed to be updated after six years. The new site offers many excellent features, such as the calculator, which can calculate the net salary based on the gross salary. Employees can now calculate their approximate net wages themselves using the online calculator. In addition to this super smart calculator, the new website also has:

  • Honest reviews from real customers
  • All Celery products in a row
  • Nice pictures of the Celery team
  • Powerful support portal
  • Explanation of our partner program

$4200 donation to charity
Despite COVID-19, Celery has had a positive year. Despite everything, we continued to run steadily and were able to adapt quickly to the “new normal”. Out of gratitude and sympathy, we and our team have decided not to hand out wine and gifts to our customers and relations this year, but to make a generous donation to the ‘Voedselbank” and Crisis Bank on Curaçao. A lot of groceries can be bought from this amount, which will help many families.

What can you expect from us in 2021?
We have a number of great projects planned for 2021. Such as, for example, completely digitizing the Celery Academy. Via Celery Academy we offer courses in payroll and HRM. These training courses are currently taking place on location, but soon it will also be possible to follow them online. The HRM module will also receive a significant boost. The module will be expanded with a few powerful features, such as extensive reports. We also have a few “top-secret” projects on the agenda that we will tell you more about during the year. It will be another exciting year!

Last but not least
Remco Ernandes has joined the Celery management team as of January 1, 2021. In his position of Commercial Director, his task, among other things, is to put Celery on the international map better. In addition, he takes over all local sales activities on Curaçao from Matthew Verhage, so that Matthew can fully focus on support and the further development of the Celery Academy.
