In contrast to the SVB premiums and Wage and Income Tax Tables that did not change in 2017, the minimum wage in Curacao has been increased by January 1, 2017. The minimum wage will be increased from ANG 8.20 gross per hour to ANG 9.00 gross per hour. That is an increase of 9.7%.
This 9.7% increase for 2017 as a first step of four-year increases of ANG 0.80 per hour per year. The plans for the coming years are as follows:
Year | Increase | Gross hourly wage |
2018 | 8.9% | 9.80 ANG |
2019 | 8.2% | 11.60 ANG |
2020 | 7.6% | 11.41 ANG |
These increases in the minimum wage are to ensure that someone with the minimum wage has an income corresponding to the subsistence level. The subsistence level for a family of one adult with two children is ANG 1.976,00 gross per month.
