Employers are obliged to pay at least these wages to their employees.<\/p>\n<p>In Aruba and Surinam there is no minimum wage per certain age. In these countries the minimum wage applies to all ages.<\/p>\n<p>In the Caribbean Netherlands, Cura\u00e7ao and St. Maarten, a distinction is made by age, there are minimum wages per age for 16 to 20-year-olds and a minimum wage for 21-year and older,<br \/>\naccording to the following percentages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>21 years e.o.\u00a0\u00a0 100%<\/li>\n<li>20 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 90%<\/li>\n<li>19 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 85%<\/li>\n<li>18 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 75%<\/li>\n<li>17\/16 years \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 65%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Aruba<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nWhen entering any employment contract involving an employment relationship, an employee who is <strong>18 years or older<\/strong> is entitled to a wage for the work performed by him, at least up to the<br \/>\namount set by law below the minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>For the largest category of employers called &#8216;industry and construction&#8217;, the minimum wage can be divided on the basis of working hours into:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>40-hour work week;<\/li>\n<li>42-hour work week;<\/li>\n<li>44-hour work week;<\/li>\n<li>45-hour work week.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The minimum wages for this as of <strong>January 1, 2023<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>monthly AWG 1,893.40;<\/li>\n<li>weekly AWG 441.60.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is converted per hour (in AWG):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10167\" src=\"https:\/\/www.celerypayroll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Table-weeks-2-300x75.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"87\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.celerypayroll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Table-weeks-2-300x75.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.celerypayroll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Table-weeks-2.jpg 441w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><br \/>\nAverage AWG 10.35 per hour, which amounts to USD 5.75 per hour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Caribbean Netherlands<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>As of <strong>January 1, 2023,<\/strong> the following minimum wages apply to employees aged <strong>21 or older<\/strong> with a 40-hour working week:<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 133px;\" width=\"303\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"146\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">Per month<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">Per hour<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"146\">Bonaire<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 1,236<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 7.13<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"146\">St. Eustatius<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 1,446<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 8.34<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"146\">Saba<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 1,434<\/td>\n<td width=\"143\">USD 8.27<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For 20-year-olds and younger, the aforementioned percentages of the above amounts apply.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Curacao<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAs of <strong>January 1, 2023<\/strong>, the minimum wage has been adjusted to ANG 1,854.67 gross per month for employees aged <strong>21 or older<\/strong> with a 40-hour working week. This amounts to a gross hourly wage of ANG 10.70.<\/p>\n<p>For 20-year-olds and younger, the aforementioned percentages of the above amounts apply.<\/p>\n<p>Mentioned hourly wage amounts to USD 5.95 gross per hour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>St. Maarten<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAs of 1 January 2023, the minimum wage has been adjusted to ANG 1,724.67 gross per month for employees aged 21 or older with a 40-hour working week. This amounts to a gross hourly wage of ANG 9.95.<\/p>\n<p>For 20-year-olds and younger, the aforementioned percentages of the above amounts apply.<\/p>\n<p>Mentioned hourly wage amounts to USD 5.52 gross per hour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Surinam<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAs of<strong> March 1, 2023,<\/strong> the minimum wage will be adjusted to SRD 30.00 gross per hour. With a 40-hour workweek, that would amount to a gross salary of SRD 5,200.00 gross per month. And per <strong>July 1, 2023<\/strong> the minimum wage will be increased further to SRD 35.00 per hour.<\/p>\n<p>As reported earlier in this blog, these amounts apply to all ages. The previous distinction based on employees in shops, catering and security companies no longer seems to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Mentioned hourly wage currently amounts to USD 0,86 gross per hour.
